Chapter 29: Too much of a good thing
General Summary
Samantha's swim towards Guaya's Seedling yielded some interesting research notes. While most wildlife avoided coming too close to the tree, those that seemed to thrive there had undergone severe transformation based on how close to it they lived. Aquatic lifeforms having merged with rock and plants to create a sturdier form capable of weathering the aetheric conditions, or perhaps changed because of them.
Sam risked her life attempting to scale the tree, an attempt quickly brought to an end as consciousness began to wane. Unwittingly, she beseeched Lakmir for wisdom as she shifted into her full feline form, learning of a land beyond her own with a similar monument and all the problems it causes for those who enter the area. The changes to one's body as a result of overexposure to highly aspected aether. It became clear that the region was beyond her capabilities to access.
Sam spent some time tailing a Warden, concluding that they simply wander around, living off the aether in the environment, only dealing with specific presences they deal noteworthy, wildlife excluded.
Eventually, Samantha would encounter a location bearing all the hallmarks of an Old World ruin. A simple stairwell leading to a meeting ground where she was destined to meet the one who would judge her worth as Guardian. Yet there was no more time left to judge, the worlds face certain doom in the near future. The planets will collide with one another, ending all life on them as the world becomes one once again. The figure informed her that the worlds needed to be evacuated before the worlds end. The only means of escape seeming to be the island base the Pantheon Hunters came to Eteras with. Located on an island known as the Receptacle off the northwestern coast.
The only way forward was to become Guardian, open the Gate and evacuate the people off the worlds before there would be none left. A seemingly insurmountable task. Yet armed with another blessing, Sam would have to endure.
