Chapter 7: The Dance with the Hagraven

General Summary

Finding herself drifting off to her dreamworld once again, Samantha had a heart to heart with Lakmir, who explained the purpose of opening the Gate: To bathe the world in aether once more and unify the people as they once were. To accomplish this, Sam must be able to stand toe to toe with titans, and for that reason she labors to further improve Samantha's body and mind.

With the party starting at last, Queen and Sam mingled in the crowd, meeting Lady Alice Theron of Tathierre, an envoy that visits other nations to maintain cordial relations. She mentioned the Kingdom of Eglisain. A nation constantly at war with its neighbours.

Parting with the envoy, Sam encountered the Mage Hunter known as Lucia, and was invited into an elaborate dance meant to create a public image of the two of them being together. An image that would make the future investigations easily digestible for the public. A round of introductions later, Lucia departed, with her mission set for the next day.

During her nightly introspection, Samantha made a breakthrough in her art of Runesmithing, recreating the ancient art of Linking runes together, as they once did in the Old World.
