Chapter 8: The Boy on the Bridge
General Summary
Luanshi returned to the bridge where he gained some small measure of renown for dealing with thugs. The forces of reputation seemed to work in mysterious ways, as a young warrior had heard the tale and sought to duel the would-be hero.
In spite of the age disparity, the young boy fought with the skill of an adult warrior, giving Luanshi a run for his Wan. Wielding a blade that splits into two and a fighting style that allowed the creation of armor and phasing through attacks, the Boy seemed to be unconventional by all means. The duel took most of Luanshi's energy, but the boy still claimed he would put more effort into their next encounter.
The unusual technique employed by the boy, Da Kaye, to end the battle seemed to be named The Liondog, a beast that attacks without pause to prevent opponents from having a moment's rest.
Luanshi left for the farm, a tad bruised from the encounter, but rich in martial knowledge. Hana seemed to have fared well in his absence. Luanshi learnt that the bridge he kept crossing is known as a place warriors go to as a means to acquire fame and notoriety among other fighters.
Apprising Hana of the events in the nearby village, she seemed to be reconsidering their plan for dealing with the empire. Information was required, which could only be obtained by venturing out and finding it. The army seemed to be the key mystery, if the Empire was doing good, why would it need soldiers?
Their next move would lead them towards the Scholar's Sect, to uncover more knowledge on the past, or to uncover further mysteries that lie in store.
