Sanguine Sunrise #15: Dreams of Reaping
General Summary
The group enter a fight with the drow after this point. They manage to kill two of them while two of the others escape, but Luthrin's specter is slain in the fight after Luthrin himself fell unconscious.
The group then rest for a short while and wait. The group manage to then get out of the underdark alive and well. Upon returning to the surface, the group return to their hotel room where they find Pep has destroyed the room. Grimace and Skek stay to clean the room while Luthrin and Ramori head to look for another inn.
While at this other inn, Ramori is charged more than Luthrin. Luthrin questions this, and the innkeeper claims that she is taking extra as an extra protection. She argues that Ramori could be attacked by the guards for being there and then she would have to buy new beds and furniture that would be damaged in the ensuing fight as well as any other number of problems occurring from other people's racist actions against Ramori that would hurt the inn.
Grimace and Skek awake to barking and rapping upon the trap door that leads to their room. They open it and Pep runs out, so Grimace and Skek argue over who will chase her before Grimace runs after and Skek convinces the individual not to call the guards for the noises the dog is making.
After this, Grimace and Luthrin head to the tower where they found the adventurers in the past. A dragonborn with symbols of a platinum dragon let the group in to see the wizard from earlier. They greet her and she leads them to a travelling laboratory she has set up and they begin discussing their plans. They soon learn her name is Contessa and get to work on exorcising the strange noble figure from Luthrin's chains.
As she finishes, a black shadow shoots from the chains and she says that anyone if anyone comes after her for this, she will take down the magenta tiefling and Grimace with her. After this, Luthrin leaves while Grimace speaks to the woman. He says that he has a voice in his head and asks her to remove it. She then begins touching Grimace which takes 10 minutes to complete her ritual of identification. When it is done, she reveals that whoever casted this on Grimace has placed a spell on him that both sustains and controls him in inseparable measure. He thanks her and leaves.
Meanwhile, Ramori found the Armorer and met with Kor'fel to gain sunglasses. She returns home and spends her time transcribing spells and helping Grimace train Pep.
Luthrin goes on a killing spree, slaughtering those who remind him of his own trauma and killing the innkeeper from earlier. On the other hand, Skek begins trying to fight crime and begins following Luthrin's trail, but it soon runs cold as guards take over the investigation.
The group then realize they need to get rid of the rotting head of the blood cultist in their possession and decide to leave the city. they all prepare to leave, but they soon see Ramori is gone. Ramori returns with screams and fire behind her in the direction of the inn she stayed in on her first night on the surface.
Soon, the group are all on the road and a mushy puddle of human insides are on the side of it. The group hastily flees the city and begin to rest after a long days journey. During Ramori's watch, she sports something fly by the group and prepares to attack it if it comes. However, nothing approaches.
Unbeknownst to the rest of the group. Skek has a dream of the dark machinations of the Duergar of Clam Runebreaker and others. He then sees his home and his need to save it. Concluding with an image of his father, mining into the earth.
