Sanguine Sunrise #23: A Conflict's Web
General Summary
The group find their outfits and go to the Ivory Manor. The statue they previously spoke to is gone and the other tells them he is being fixed. As they enter, they see the room is populated by statues of all kinds, blue-green people, and a table where a teenaged girl sits.
The girl was the Ivory Maiden, a person who has changed and believes in that change. She knows of how Luthrin left her behind, and she speaks of how everyone has changed and she has accepted it more than any of they have. She tells of her own stories and listens to theirs.
Luthrin looked up at the mantle to see Kuro's bow and comes to understand something. Then, the dinner ends and the party leaves, ready to head to the inn and finally sleep.
When they awake the next day, they have received another letter from someone called the mechanic who invites them to meet by asking some others of the mechanic's location. Oh, also, the mechanic addressed them as the Magenta Maniacs, so the group spent an hour arguing into the name Sanguine Sunrise, so that happened.
They finally went to find the Mechanic and walked into a warehouse as they were told. They open the strange clockwork door and enter within. When they do, the floor opens below them and they fall into an arena. The back of the arena had a large spider symbol on it. There were a few dead bodies around who had accidentally fallen in here. At the center of the arena was a ball of metal and shrapnel ready to fight. Out from the symbol came tiny mechanical spiders that rushed towards the party as the ball struck everyone.
A battle ensued where Gratorr raised the dead and everyone fought with intensity. It was going poorly, and as Sandy ran to help Azada, the ball came upon her and stabbed her in the back. As she looked down towards Azada on the floor, the princess just heard a quiet, "It was fun while it lasted" while the sounds of battle fell away.
Luthrin, as always, destroyed the creatures while being virtually untouched, and the party carried Sandy's corpse and Azada's sleeping body from the warehouse after finding a control panel where they entered.
Looking for a way to save Sandy, the group came upon a temple to Oghma ran by a Minotaur named Ogmar. He said if the group could find Volo's Guide to Monsters, The Sword Coast's Adventurer's Guide, and A Slave's Guide to the Underdark, books similar to them, or spell scrolls, he could bring Sandy back to life.
