Session #8: A Fretful Time
General Summary
Fret ends up hiring Finn, a wizard that was previously with the party, to find his new friend, Renard. Renard was last seen with the party, but he has gone missing for a couple days, and he is hoping that he hadn't been kidnapped again. Finn accepts the offer and approaches Trollskull Manor to pursue this investigation.
After he arrived at the manor, Jorn was obviously very tense and nearly killed the investigator until he revealed his purpose. Afterwards, through a lot of awkward and terse conversation, Finn learned of how Renard died. He decides to return to Fret to deliver the info, but the party refuses to let him leave alone, so they follow him.
There they explain the news to Fret who is obviously upset that they would leave Renard's body and treat him as if he were nothing. He tells Finn to stay with the group in order to keep an eye out for this mage who caused the issue.
After this, the group goes to the location of the Stone of Golorr where they find the tower. After failing to use a makeshift grappling hook to climb the tower, the adventurers head into the tower through the front door. Inside the tower, they find two sets of spiraling stairs. One descends and the other ascends. As the group is deciding to split the party, they hear a loud noise from upstairs, and they all rush to investigate.
In the upstairs room they run into two drow. A man with a large scar across his face says that he must stay because they are here. The other, younger drow gives into his request and as he sees the party arrive, he jumps out the window.
The serial killer fights the party for a long while, downing Finn as he attempts to jump out the window after the younger one. Eventually the killer is badly wounded and jumps out the window before drawing a gun. As he does so, Grimace charges after him and gets shot through the stomach. Luthrin rushes after and manages to behead the killer. Afterwards the party runs after the two drow they see escaping, but they manage to get away.
Kuro starts to loot the body as Poxguard starts to emerge and knocks him out. Finally, a member of the destguard arrives and explains things to the party before they are released along with the head as they explained that they were hunting this man.
Meanwhilem Kiwi, Finn, and Alex who remained in the tower explore its lower level where they find a teleportation circle.
The party then all returns together where they go to find the two drow they saw ran off. They find them in Mystshore, a seedy neighborhood in the dock ward. The older drow begins speaking to them and asking them to calm down.
As the drow talks, a mechanical dragon turtle slowly rose from the water, and the drow jumped on its back, initiating a fight. In the fight, everyone who was in the radius of the dragon turtle's steam breath but Luthrin and Hope are knocked out. Kiwi manages to heal everoyone, so they don't die. Additionally, Luthrin was shot by the younger drow as they escaped, but the other one guided his hand, so that Luthrin was knocked unconscious rather than killed.
The three that remained standing watched as the dragon turtle headed to a fleet of three opulent ships docked far away.
