Titans' Folly #7: Prophecies in Fifteens
General Summary
The group deal with the problems that come from the followers' assault on the castle. They manage to find items to carry the bodies of their fallen comrade and enemy. Bear participates in a race of morning and manages to earn the boon of Skerrit.
Bear also attempts to find an animal companion but simply ends up tearing the horn off of a "horned bunny." They all meet up at the end and carry their corpses and newfound items to the ship. At the ship, they attempt to ressurect Ramori. Kriv attempts to convince her to come back, Luthrin attempts to intimidate her back to life, and Kurt attempts to make a light for her to return to. However, they watch in this strange fey storm as the body does not return to life and Ramori becomes cut off from the mortal coil.
Bear throws Kurt into the ocean for insulting Ramori during her funeral rights. However, Hope brings her back to the ship and all goes fairly well.
Eventually, the group have to leave the ship, and walk across blasted ground to reach their next location. Walking across, seeing caverns and statues, they eventually come across a massive mountain of stacked rocks in the middle of this wasteland. At the top, they see a giant white spherical crystal. As they sit and talk about the "mountain egg" they watch as two rocks move and open a hole to reveal a giant hobbled tree creature with a cane coming from his hands.
This mentoring tree speaks to them of how life was found here where there is none outside, and they see the vibrant life that exists here. The Mentor speaks to a quiet Luthrin about how life can be found everywhere and the darkness one is forced to go through may alter them, but it can be utilized to combat what darkness remains in the world.
Luthrin begins his training outside of the mountain with aid from this figure whilst the others play a game against another treant, but they end up losing.
Luthrin's training ends as she stands in an open area with the Mentor. He asks the young wielder of powerful artifacts if they were certain of developing this to its full point. Luthrin agrees this was the right path and the Mentor lowers down, telling Luthrin that the final task was for them to plunge the blade into his head. Luthrin questions this, but the Mentor claims that his death brings more life and all will be well, so Luthrin stabs down into the tree, watching it quickly rot away before him.
Thus with the training complete, Luthrin returns to his party as they all feel the pull of destiny back onto the material plane. Kriv, now trained to return home, brings everyone, including Skellybob back into the party's home plane and onto a ship in the middle of nowhere.
As they are seen by sailors all around after randomly appearing on a ship, they watch as out from a captain's cabin walks an older Arborea Wylde in pirate's garb and with greying hair. Soon after, Syllin walks up out of the lower decks. Hope hugs Syllin but is confused as she fails to remember all her time in the Feywild. Some jokes ensue as the adventurers realize that they have been gone from the prime material for almost fifteen years.
The group manage to cure Hope's amnesia and everyone has their touching greetings with each other. Then, the groups swap stories, with the adventurers speaking of what happened in the Fey and the people aboard the ship speaking of the material plane.
Arborea claims they are going to some random islands in the middle of nowhere. Syllin says that her options were limited. The Emperors had conglomerated at Baldur's Gate and were doing something dastardly, but she knew she would die if attempting an assault. She had no one to fight with as everyone had been killed in war and Elturguard destroyed or conquered. She went to fight the creatures corrupting the depths to find some way to defeat Dreus there if she was not dead.
However, realizing that these people were back with possibly a deadly weapon, they all decided to return to Baldur's Gate to kill Dreus instead. Luthrin asks Arborea about Jade, and she tells of the fact that it seemed the Prince had a warped blade that was used to kill Valkur.
Then, with the ship turned around, travel begins to certain doom at Baldur's Gate. While travelling, many conversations happen.
Hope and Luthrin speak to each other being the only members of the original party to reach this finale point. Hope, after all of the darkness, after all of the wackiness of the fey, returns to her ally and tells them, she is tired. Luthrin agrees.
She then says that she feels the end is coming and wants to end this damned cycle. In the end, she tells Luthrin that it was nice knowing him, and she hopes to see him in the end, no matter where they end up. Luthrin rejects this sentiment, assuming nowhere he ends up is a place Hope deserves to be.
Soon after, Kurt speaks to Luthrin. He tells her that this entire time he's known her, he wanted to try to redeem her. To have some part in making her better, but he acknowledges he had no way of doing so. However, he sees that she is changed. She has been redeemed by just trying to be better herself.
Finally, the night before reaching the coast, the group all have dinner. Arborea speaks to them about them having no title for themselves. She mentions that the many of the Gods fought from the plane of Olympus against the Titanic Primordials in the Dawn War. Perhaps if that might jog any ideas for them, and for Hope and Luthrin, it stuck, and they decided that if they live this, they would be known as the new Olympians.
After dinner, Kurt confronts Luthrin again. Once again, he states of the proof of goodness he has seen in them. He asks for them to spend time with each other when this was all over and Luthrin agrees with a kiss.
Finally, these new Olympians reach the shore of a beach close to Baldur's Gate. There, they hear a deep and warbled voice call out to them. They look out and see Blackstaff, a hulking bodyguard, and members of the Waterdhavian Mage Guild standing upon the beach acting as seeming sentries. Luthrin tells Dereck that when the fighting starts to run, but Dereck refuses. Then, Blackstaff tells them that no fight needs to occur.
Hope trusts him and docks the ship to talk to Blackstaff. Bear at this time sees no reason to be here and just wants to start a pet shop, but Blackstaff stops him, saying that Dreus plans to summon meteors to come down upon Toril spreading warp everywhere around the world. Blackstaff believes this will harm the city of Waterdeep and opposes the Avatars' plan. Then, Bear starts walking towards the city.
Members of the ship's crew, Blackstaff and his followers, and these new Olympians walk towards Baldur's Gate and begin fighting mercenaries as they break down the wall of the broken city and walk inside. Then, they rush in and fight off the warped people and beings that managed to survive in this blasted city before rushing towards the large central tower covered in Warp Stone.
