Chrylistia, The Golden Goddess
Chrylistia is the goddess of greed, excess, and undeath. She is a goddess whos desires are never sated, and she encourages her followers to do the same, building up massive hordes of wealth and striving to claim as much as they can. Her greed is so great that it led her to try and claim more of everything, including life, and thus led her to undeath as a method of immortality. Chrylistia takes the form of a woman covered from head to toe in a gold with luxurious silk robes and some of the highest quality jewelry. She carries with her a staff topped with a diamond skull.
Chrylistia holds incredibly greed for all that has value, whether it be gold, life, or souls. She is perfectly willing to lie, cheat, steal, and do whatever is necessary to acquire what she desires. Some of her methods of gathering souls and followers is far more direct and straightforward than the other gods in the Pantheon of the Fallen. Her most common method is to either have either her undead minions and followers go forth and capture people to be sacrificed to her, or she will gather up a large force, and hold an entire town ransom, unless they can pay whatever price she has demanded through some mixture of wealth and sacrifices. To Chrylistia, wealth is worthiness. Those who have wealth are good, while those without are simply inferior. She believes herself to the the greatest being of all, and therefore she deserves the most wealth and power. She seeks to attract those of a similar mindset, encouraging mortals to give into their deepest greed and to horde wealth. She raises up those who are willing to do anything to enrich themselves, and do not care for what it may cost others. When those individuals die she promises them power and paradise in her realm, in exchange for a price, and the more they are able to pay, the greater the reward they receive. Perhaps the greatest expression of Chrylistia's greed comes from her creation of undead. To Chrylistia undeath represents a desire for limitless life, and limitless possibilities. Undead servants involve taking the most valuable possession people have, their souls, and binding it to one's will. Similarly, becoming undead allows someone to live far beyond what they would otherwise be able to, and allows them to build a far greater fortune or amass incredible power.
To Chrylistia her church is merely a business, and everything has a price. There is a fee needed to become a member, and ranking within the church is determined by wealth. She is perfectly willing to perform any divine service her followers may request, with very little devotion necessary, but for larger sums of gold than what other religions would typically charge. Clerics of Chrylistia have purchased their spellcasting ability from her in order to be able to charge others for their services as a business, though they generally need to masquerade as worshippers of another deity in normal society. Similarly worship is very much a job to her followers. She pays out gold to those who are able to generate large sums of energy, or gather sacrifices for her, knowing she will get her money back once her followers pass on and need to go shopping for their desired afterlife. A significant portion of her follower choose to extend their lives by becoming undead. This is a very expensive service, but many see undeath as the path to immortality and potentially limitless wealth. Naturally, most of Chrylistia's willing followers are unscrupulous merchant's, corrupt nobility, or intelligent undead.
