The Rift of Chalcedon
The Year of Calamity
A world teeters on the precipice of destruction. A kingdom of over a million souls has fallen in a single night. A blast of searing white light scoured the world for hundreds of miles in every direction from the capital city of Chalcedon. The ocean the city bordered on boiled up and dried to a dead salt bed and the land that had once been verdant fields and lush groves has been reduced to cracked sand blasted barrens. The natural wildlife in the area is dead or mutated into monstrous abominations by the blast. Those that survived by a combination of miraculous luck or horrible misfortune have been rendered blind but speak in mad ramblings about the horrors they have suffered.
New Chalcedon was erected on the outside of the blast by the FERA guild, a group of explorers who leverage political clout with the remaining nations to recruit soldiers, scholars and heroes from across the land. The FERA base is newly under construction and is being overseen by the camp's leader, Dustin, an adventurer of some renown.
Welcome, adventurers. You hail from varying backgrounds and locales around the world with varying magical and martial talents. How you arrive in New Chacledon is up to you - were you a veteran soldier who was sent by his nation, a bright eyed youth blessed with the blood of dragons eager to make a name for themselves, a resident of a nearby village who was somehow affected by the blast and now draw upon eldritch energies to fuel your vengeance against whatever caused this disruption, or something else entirely - but the story is yours to tell from here.
