Some have been domesticated, but only after being raised outside of their natural habitats. Generally this means that they need to be separated after the newborn's eggs are laid and hatched in the domestic environment. When Armstrong was first settled, the birds were found to be non-threatening as long as they were left alone. Also, the settlers found that they were strong and could be found staking out potential food sources like herds of walking animals that made an excellent local food source. The Wings will take on prey up to nearly a hundred times their mass, sometimes with help from their pack, but at other times aren't afraid to go it alone. This led the settlers to somewhat venerate this native animal and have turned it into a symbol of power, not only on Armstrong, but within the the Junction Expanse. They have adopted well to other worlds, especially those with standard atmospheres and plenty of land to find prey. Armstrong's Wing is featured on the flag of the Junction Expanse.
