The Ivory Keep

The Ivory Keep in Leancaster, a former palace of the Oussian royal line, now serves as the town hall under Alyssian rule. According to legend, the building was constructed using dragon bone, hence its name. It stands on the edge of the city, overlooking The Rainy Depths, built on the highest point so that the Kings and Queens of Oussia could keep a constant vigil over their land.

Architecture

The Ivory Keep's architecture is a sight to behold, featuring a large pearlescent palace made up of dozens of buildings and towers, decorated with gold accents and limestone walkways. The keep is situated on the edge of a great lake, and boasts many impressive water features. Multiple fountains are directly linked to the lake, some designed to function during high tide, and others during low tide. The bridge to the keep acts as a dam, keeping the lake from flooding The Ivory Square and The Docksides districts during heavy storms.   A magnificent golden statue of Savrsan adorns the front of the palace, facing towards the city as if to watch over it. Her wings are built in a way that catches the light of the setting sun, making them appear to be ablaze in holy fire.

History

The Ivory Keep has a rich history, having been built during the founding of Oussia as a symbol of hope for its people. Legend has it that the keep is made from the bones of an ancient silver dragon that died protecting the first queen, a story further explained in The Tale of the Silver Queen.   Throughout its history, the Ivory Keep has lived up to its status as a symbol of hope, withstanding numerous attacks on the city. It has been the site of many last stands by the Oussian people, with its defenses only being penetrated once. Today, the keep serves as a reminder of Oussia's rich history and enduring resilience.
