Desus
The God of Fire, Creation and Destruction
Under the leadership of the Shieldmaiden, Desus was used to comfort the mortals, a role he came to resent by the time of the Conqueror. His powers allowed him the ability to unleash enormous sums of energy, and could fuel the greatest creations of the age. If the Shieldmaiden wanted the mortals to progress, why not let him offer more than a warm home? When the Conqueror rose, Desus joined the Arbitri, more out of frustration with the Gods of the Aegis than out of resentment or fear of death. During the war, he was extremely active on the battlefield. Mortals who pledged themselves to the Arbitri were given the blessing of fire by Desus and became powerful juggernauts during the war, the first Tieflings. Toward the end of the war, Desus lost faith in the Conqueror, the undead were rampant, Desus did not love the mortals as the Gods of the Aegis did, but he did not begrudge them either. He simply wanted his freedom and now the entire mortal plane was on the verge of destruction.
In the final battle against the Aegis, Desus and his sister Fesus betrayed the Arbitri, seeking to bring the conflict to an end. When the planes were shattered, Desus and Fesus worked tirelessly to repair the damage that had been wrought, and were eventually accepted into the Aegis. Though still somewhat taboo, there are those in Mytha who pledge themselves to Desus today, receiving the blessing of fire as his soldiers once did.
