    Exploration of the Sol System
    Discovery, Exploration

As improvements on Epstein Drive Technology brings the Belt, Outer Planets, and more solar bodies into reach, there is a renaissance of exploration (and exploitation) of the vast number of resources available for the taking. Both heavily over-populated Earth and quickly growing Mars hire companies to fully... utilize everything possible. Soon, corporations are hiring individuals and even offering incentives to entire families to spend their entire lives on these new planetary bodies, working.   These "Belters" are almost exclusively the working poor from Earth, happy to take a job anywhere as long as it means they get off basic assistance. Belter culture starts to grow as more and more people from all around Earth, Luna, and even Mars bond over spending most of their time in the vacuum of space, and the next to zero-G of the belt

    Colonization of Ceres
    Founding

Ceres, the largest known asteroid and only known dwarf planet in the inner solar system, is colonized. Ceres is technically governed by the UN, but most executive action is carried out by the governor of the station. Ceres quickly grows to be a major port in the Belt, being an important site for refueling before heading to the outer planets or elsewhere into the belt. Due to the high volume of travelers, most security is relegated to private security firms.

Formation of the Outer Planets Alliance
    Founding

The Outer Planets Alliance, also known as the OPA, can trace its routes back to the first labor union on Ceres. For the vast majority of its oft-maligned history, the OPA has consisted of anywhere from a dozen to hundreds of different factions spread throughout the Belt and Outer Planets. The OPA doesn't have a singular figurehead, and is not in union with its members. While all factions fight for the interests of Belters, the means used vary wildly. Described as everything from a sociopolitical movement to a terrorist network, the OPA has cells based at every station in the belt, most notably at Tycho Station and Ceres Station.

    Construction of Tycho Station
    Construction beginning/end

Tycho Station is one of the first space stations built by a private company following the advent of the Epstein Drive. Owned and Run by the Tycho Manufacturing and Engineering Concern, it is the largest mobile construction platform in the Sol system. One of the first jobs Tycho undertook was the spinning up of the asteroids Ceres and Eros, in order to induce an artificial gravity.

Founding of the Earth-Mars Coalition Navy
    Military action

Due to rising tensions between Earth and Mars, as well as continually increasing instances of piracy in the Belt, the UN and the MCR agree to form the EMCN - The Earth-Mars Coalition Navy as the ultimate peace-keeping force in the solar system. This is undertaken in order to force the two planets to work together while also keeping tabs on each other's military strength. The alliance is tenuous, and to most soldiers and officers in the EMCN there really are still two separate navies. However, this union is doing its purpose of keeping the nuclear planetbusters pointed away from each other.   This does not mean however that the UN and the MCR have become too trusting or relaxed around each other.

    Jovian Colonization
    Founding

Due to advances in technology, the colonization of several of the Jovian moons takes significantly less time than the colonization of Mars, Luna, or The Belt. Most importantly of those moons is Ganymede - the only moon in the entire solar system known to have both an ionosphere and magnetosphere. This means that the moon is ripe for agricultural planning and would be a very useful waypoint for the outer planets

Construction of the Ganymede Orbital Mirrors
    Construction beginning/end

Construction of several gigantic mirrors are constructed around Ganymede to concentrate sunlight and facilitate growth on the agridomes. Soon enough, the moon becomes the largest food producer in the Outer Planets, and second only to Earth in the entire Solar System

    The Breadbasket of the Belt
    Construction beginning/end

Ganymede finishes construction of multiple new agridomes, and asserts its title as the Outer Planets' biggest food producer. Even though it is a moon of Jupiter, it is given the nickname the Breadbasket of the Belt. Hundreds of millions of Belters depend on the food grown here

    The Vesta Blockade
    Military action

One of the few confrontations of the Earth-Mars Cold War to lead to actual military engagement. The UN blockaded the asteroid Vesta, placing an embargo on Martian terraforming supplies. The blockade consisted of 5 UNN Destroyers, when an MCRN Cruiser flew too close to the blockade. While the details aren't clear on who fired first, suddenly PDCs and Missiles were being launched. A ceasefire was ordered within minutes, however the MCRN Cruiser was able to cripple all 5 UNN Destroyers before then. This lead to the deaths of approximately 80 UN soldiers, and 12 Martians. The technological superiority of the MCRN ships was on full display, and even though the UNN outnumbered the martian fleet approximately 8:1, this battle made it clear that another fight would have roughly even odds.

    The Destruction of Anderson Station
    Military action

After being taken over by insurgents during a worker's strike, Anderson station is blown up by the UNMC. Whether or not this action was noble or a war crime depends on who you ask, but the decorated Colonel Fred Johnson who carried out the attack resigned his post afterwards and took to looking out for the Belt
