Malfunctio's Journal
General Summary
Malfunctio enters the room and sees that the group is discussing, Luvon, Rafaela and Philine do not know what to do, extremely exciting to see their talk. Rafaela wants to try out her bagpipe.
Looks like we're going to talk to some ugly ogres who are always hungry and like beautiful shining things.
Philine has got an idea, it's relatively new to such a great warrior lady. Malfunctio thought that she looks like one of the great heroic warriors of the many statues and books Malfunctio has read. And she has a strange urge for roots.
Rafaela is incredibly happy to get her bagpipe back, she polishes it well.
The group decided to play some music and lure these ugly ones down to us, Rafaela didn't quite manage to play properly on her bagpipe, it sounded a little like a cat screaming, though others say it sounded fine, Malfunctio thought it sounded a little rough.
An ork came, it was curious. Not quite an ogre, but Philine and Luvon quickly got him down. Rafaela did not do anything she just polished her bagpipe. Malfunctio did well as a bait.
Luvon, running down the hall to find the others, after Malfunctio told it would be a good idea, Malfunctio is the group's clever head. Malfunctio chose to sit down on dead ork and wait. Luvon succeeded in retrieving some of the things, but they also brougth their wolves friends and the big ugly ogres.
Fight - Battle Scene
Philine and Luvon started enjoying themselves with all the creatures that come running after Luvon.
Luvon and Philine beat most of these ugly creatures. But those who stood out most in the fight were Rafaela and Malfunctio, as they alone won over two wolves and a nasty pink ogre. When this fight was over, everyone took a rest. Philine has learned how to tame large wolves, and how to polish his spear. Luvon was incredibly boring, he sat down and closed his eyes. Rafaela started playing again on her bagpipe.
Malfunctio enjoyed a fine meal while Gabriella played with the others and looked at their stuff.
Rafella strangely began to empty the contents of a chest into a sack, it had to be a magical bag, for she filled it with many shining things and coins. But the bag didn't get bigger, this one finds Malfunctio exciting.
Rafaela and Philine thought we should take the empty chest back to our carriage, Malfunctio found this action very strange.
The journey back to Portovoli took some days, Malfunctio and the others have now been away for a little week. Rafaela and Philine were very happy to see this boring harbor town again, Malfunctio hopes that we will soon be able to go out again, this time on a longer journey than just by the forest. Malfunctio did not think the "flaming" mountains were so flaming, they were gray and boring.
One thing Malfunctio, however, is looking forward to, is a warm bed and good food, at least Malfunctio hopes that it is good food. Rafaela should probably be able to get us something good and cheap.
We went back to the inn to find out what was going to happen, Philline asked for messages, Malfunctio was invited to live with these wonderful people.
Philine received a letter, Rafaela read it, Malfunctio thinks it's because of all the blows Philine gets to her head. Reading is something everyone can do unless the metal-clad people can never read?
The letter said:
Dear Heroes of Potavoli.Philine, does not know who it is, but has a suspicion of who it might be. Obviously, some "shadow" people who, according to her, are "over" the houses. Malfunctio doesn't even understand this strange city and its way of being.
The recent fall of the large family, Castellano, offers new opportunities. If you want to assist in a new age for Potavoli, meet us at the Golden Grapes in three days at sunset, ask for The Diplomat
The others talk to Philine about who it might be as well as what our next move could be.
Rafaela would like us to wait until the day after to investigate this, as this evening will be one with a lot of jugs of wine. Rafaela will host a concert, Malfunctio and Luvon assist her in this beautiful.
Philine, went ¨back to her forge to talk to her apprentice about the new plans. And what work is needed to complete her armor. Luvon, gave Philine all his gold because he didn't even need it.
Malfunctio sought a better armor, unfortunately had to pay full price for it. But with the reward Malfunctio got, it wasn't that bad. Now the rest of the evening will be on wine, food and music.
Rafaela, drank more wine and wanted to play music later.
The next day, the group split and passed the day with various small tasks, hangover for Rafaela.
The Golden Grapes is a gathering place for people who trade, hold "hidden" meetings and other shady deals. After stealing something from various merchants, Malfunctio's hand was unfortunately discovered, however, the man wondered why there were things flying around in the air. The city guard was summoned and they come quickly.
Luvon went exploring and visited various areas of the city looking for more information on the Castellano family.
Malfunctio followed Luvon, we waited for the others outside the Golden Grapes, the first one to come was Rafaela and she had a companion this time, Malfuctio could not recognize that person. But she claimed she was Philine, no one fool Malfunctio, Philine would never wear such clothes.
We went into the tavern, was shown to our suite where we had to meet this "diplomat"
The suite had a table with room for eight, which was currently sitting two. There is also a lot of wine and food items. One is a man with a hooked nose, close-fitting eyes, neatly dressed. He is "The Diplomat", his associate is called "The Merchant". Nicely dressed, in the same fabric as Philine's dress, she has some fine jewelry, which could indicate she is wealthy.
Malfunctio thinks that these two have a new job to offer us. They claim that they represent a larger group that wants to make some changes here in the city, they want to set a new agenda, the big houses are the ones who decide all the time, they believe that the time with the Empire was better, and not this puppet doll he has become.
They want to abolish slavery, but it requires that the power of the big houses be reduced. They would like to return to the time with the empire, not the government but how the city functioned then.
The Diplomat and The Merchant want us to work together to get other groups to come to light. They would like to introduce some new guilds to the city that can help determine and contribute with things, more equality, more participation.
These two could use some guards, and will buy us as guards. They think that with Philine by their side, the Malatesta family will look better at this idea equality between the houses and the guilds. However, Philine would like to consult Malatesta first.
However, these two believe that we do not have to think about this, since we have proved before we want the best for the city.
They will not reveal which group they represent. But they are with those who think that the big families are controlling too much, they want the lower-standing people also to have a word in the decisions for the city.
They would like us as guards, 50 g per man per day. However, they will not be present at the event itself. But would like the guild to remain, it requires guards. And apparently we are "good" at that, Malfunctio thought it was very strange.
Malfunctio made an agreement with Gianozzo to make several books, and that Philine will not get angry. He has apparently written some books about Philine and her adventures.
We received a letter the day after which had instructions for where we were going, we meet again for the evening at the inn, the Green Horse.
Luvon and Malfunctio left together, Philine and Rafaela left together. Philine can't remember so much from the day before.
We were going to a warehouse. Lot 27-A-3, former owner of Castallano, was used for building materials. Taken over by Spari family, but the warehouse is still empty.
The Order of the Eagle has taken over part of Castallano's stuff.
Malfunctio and Lyvon thought they should take a closer look at this warehouse, as it is strange that no one has taken it or rented it. Now Malfunctio gets to see how good Lyvon is at hiding.
The day went, we met and agreed more on how to do this, we met in the warehouse with those who hired us as guards. Peitro and Ristorro, Malfunctio do not like these two, they seem weird. The warehouse was transformed into a meeting place for all those who obviously want to "overturn" the great families and create equality. We prepared to hold the meeting and watch these people to protect them. And as expected, we or rather they were attacked. It went fast, as their attempts failed and we ended it quickly.
Rafaela began her strange abilities to persuade people and talk to people as some of these "evil men" survived. Philine found a barrel with possible poison in it, we quickly rolled it away. Malfunctio thinks that it was very good as it wouldn't do with a lot of sick people and us in the same place.
Be thrilling to see what Rafaela is doing for information from this one man.
When we thought it was over, it turned out that the warehouse smelled a lot of smoke. Strange people from another great family have apparently set fire to the warehouse. Lyvon was quick enough to stop a man in the alley next to the warehouse. However, two others managed to light fire to the warehouse. The fire was extinguished and we spoke briefly to those who held the meeting. It is suspected that there are several great families that might stop this meeting. Philine has begun asking why the house Aboresi sent marked slaves. It also turned out that there were others present, hired people to assist the slaves.
After questioning them for some time, they admitted a lot of information that Malfunctio did not find necessary. Philine went on to the next person who apparently set fire to the warehouse, he told about the fried cheese where he had been hired by a cloaked man. He was not very talkative otherwise and is now handed over to the city guard.
Lyvon and Rafaela went to The Fried Cheese, where they found a person who was afraid to see them. It turned out that he was one of those who left the warehouse. Rafaela and Lyvon began to question him about the various things he now knows. Among other things, he could tell where one of his friends lived, who also helped to start the fire.
The day after this strange evening, Philine went back to Malatesta to talk to them, and to continue working on his armor, Malfunctio thinks it will be really nice once it is finished.

Haunted Bagpipe

This bagpipe is haunted by the spirit of Nikalar the Smiling. He grants bards he finds worthy access to it powers. Others are haunted by him until they pass the bagpipe along to another bard. Without Nikalar's accept it is impossible to become attuned to the bagpipe. Once attuned Nikalar helps the bard by granting him access to increasing power as the bard himself gains more power.
Anyone who is not attuned to the bagpipe and tries to play them gets a -10 penalty to Perform.
The bagpipe grants you advantage on Arcana and History checks while it is within 30 ft of you.
You can use an action to play the bagpipe and cast one of its spells. Once the bagpipe has been used to cast a spell, it can’t be used to cast that spell again until the next dawn. The available spells depend on your level as shown in the table below. The spells use your spellcasting ability and spell save DC.
