Hangar 227
Hangar 227 was built by the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s and became one of the United States’ strategic air command bases.
Purpose / Function
The Air Force used it to perform heavy maintenance on bombers and tankers before it was sold to Pan American World Airways, who used it for about ten years to maintain their fleet.
Alterations
A hidden military base, Hangar 227 Underground Base, was built beneath the hanger in secret.
