Wood Lakes Campground on Quimby Pond
The Wood Lakes Campground on Quimby Pond is the quintessential Maine sporting camp.
Established in 1853, Wood Lakes Campground on Quimby Pond has been one of Maine’s premier sporting camps, and a focal point of the Richardson Lakes area. Preserving the region’s colorful history and traditions has always been a priority for us. That’s why everywhere in camp you look, you’ll find reminders of the past, from the pictures in the dining room to the period furniture in the cabins. As its owners did nearly 150 years ago, we strive to provide our guests with a truly unique Maine sporting camp experience.
The Richardson Lakes area has always been known for its excellent fishing on the Rapid River. It is also is known as the region Louise Dickinson Rich made famous in her book We Took to the Woods, and is the site where American fly tying legend Carrie Stevens created the famous Grey Ghost and other original streamer flies.
