"I'm telling you, he had a daughter!" Jeremiah yelled. The other Travelers sighed, this had been the eighth time the young traveler had brought it up today.
"I know you're enthusiastic about finding a new discovery son, but Avidita never had any records of a child, and it wouldn't fit Marcus to have a child." one of the elders spoke up, hoping to deescalate the situation. Jeremiah groaned "Why don't you get it? If he has a kid that could be a huge deal."
"Except he didn't, cease this foolishness right now."
"He did! I can prove it to you, if we analyze some of the transcripts of his interactions we can se-"
"We've seen those transcripts, they don't hold any secrets in them that haven't been decoded already."
"But they do! If we analyze this one here, we can see that refers to a sudden shift between his hatred for tieflings and his neutrality about them. When cross-referenced with these adoption records from an orphanage that lists a "Dura" adopting the girl. We know Dura was an agent for Marcus, so there's a high chance she was adopted under her name for Marcus!"
"Sheer lunacy, you're grasping for straws now! You've brought nothing but mad ramblings to this table, leave now before we are forced to escort you out!"
Jeremiah was boiling with rage, he snatched up all of his findings and stormed out of the meeting. He could hear quiet chuckles behind him as he left. This isn't why he wanted to join Barnett, he worshiped him to find the truth, not repeat lies. He slammed his fist on the wall, grumbling profanities and curses towards his elders. A hand grabbed his shoulder, he whipped around, seething with anger. A female tiefling stood before him, wearing simple leather armor with a green cloak wrapped around her shoulders. A golden brooch was pinned in her cloak, a shining "A" engraved into it's surface. Jeremiah's eyes widened, realization washed across his face. Before he could speak she shot a hand towards his mouth, covering it.
She smiled "You're snooping in territory you have no reason to be snooping through. I propose we have a nice long talk about going through a lady's business." Nalia held out her arm, Jeremiah reluctantly took it, "Good boy, shall we?".
Jeremiah disappeared that day, a small investigation was started and ended. Some theorize he ran away from the church out of frustration. Others think he's dedicating himself to his crackpot theory, but no one asked too many questions. His disappearance was left unsolved and forgotten, just as she predicted it would.
