Personal Fold Device
The Mirage PMD (Personal Marigold Device) is a limited range teleportation device that can transfer a person or object nearly instantaneously over extreme planetary distances. It utilizes two miniaturized Marigold Devices to relocate the bearer of one device to the location of the other device. There is a recharge delay before the devices can function again.
Because of the chaotic non-Euclidean properties of Fold-Space, the Transporting Device is capable of Shifting into Fold-Space, and then immediately return to real space at the location of the Receiving Device.
Sylvester Mirage developed the personal fold device technology while he was serving under Emperor Harriman aboard the
GCS Argus in 1021 RE. Admiral Mirage is also known throughout the Harriman Empire as the creator of the Dual-Marigold Jump Drive.
This technology has been a highly guarded military secret of the Harriman Empire for quite some time. Although it has begun to make its way into the hands of some civilian entities. Rumors have begun to spread that the Empires enemies in Corporate Space have reverse engineered the technology.
There is no empirical evidence to support the rumors that a malfunctioning Mirage PMD can lead to those being teleported to finding themselves lost in another time or place.
Social Impact
The implementation of this technology allows for the rapid transportation of goods, equipment, and personnel between high orbit and planetary locations at an almost instant time frame.
