Session 16 - Crackin' Jaws and Meeting Mappers

General Summary

Time has advanced to the 19th of Desnus. The stars twinkle high in the firmament.   Deciding to explore the surrounding area, the heroes decide that a clockwise path around the capitol is the optimal path. However just before they set to adjourn a fisher by the name of Arven walks through the front doors and brings up how a massive "Crokaturdle" invaded his fishing spot through speech and a lack of security in the townhall by his brazen entry. With the task of "reclaimin' his fishin' spot" added to the list, the heroes set off.   Their explorations to the north of Clemency reveal a fangberry bush to the north and an intersection of rivers with a shallow ford, allowing easier crossing into the Greenbelt proper. Continuing into the southeast, they barely have time to find a suitable campsite before being accosted by the Howl of the North along with his pack. The warg demanded that they leave his territory or else they would be hunted for trespassing. Not wanting to fight on his terms, the heroes acquiesced to his demands and travelled to the riverbank across from the village.   Being forced to push themselves once more resulted in the less robust heroes becoming addled with fatigue. On the morning bad became worse as the very foundation opened up resulted in severe damage and the death of a few of the steeds. Uncle Jumpy was nonplussed. The heroes then spent a day to rest and then retrieve their belongings from the horses.   Moving onward, the heroes, slightly slower on foot, ventured south and found a high cliff overseeing the river. From the instructions from Arven, they follow down a thorny path to a hidden lagoon. A bit of exploration results in the angry snapping turtle to lurch forward but it is brought down from a concentrated effort. Searching the surrounding area does reveal a sickle with primal magic residue on it.   The heroes then returned home and set off up the Skunk river where they encountered an expedition in distress. The caravan just fended off a kobold ambush when their horses were spooked and ran into the river. With the tide threatening to sweep the horses and the cart away, the heroes quickly jumped into action and managed to save the horses and the cart. The leader of the expedition, a gnome by the name of Jubilost Narthopple, invited them to share a meal. Taking them up on their offer they learned that Jubilost is an explorer who has been travelling around the Greenbelt for quite some time now and has a wealth of locations mapped out. For a price he was willing to share and the heroes took him up on that offer.
