Session 26 - Dire Wolves, A Missing Brother, And A Power Couple.

General Summary

Time has advanced to the 8th of Gozran.
Recent quests from the surrounding area were aggregated by the council. Reports of a Hodag from a lumberjack, a missing brother of a noble, and a wanted poster from the citizenry regarding the Warg across the river. Collecting their thoughts, the heroes decided that assisting the citizenry on the monster attacks in the forest would be the best idea and from there see about finding the brother.
The growing road network of Ista allowed for easy travel though the hills to the base camp where Valerie and Tristian have been to check in. Gathering their bearings the heroes pressed on into the woods. Following tracks the heroes came deep in the woods along the roads. The reason why this ongoing attack was so difficult to stop was quickly revealed: A pack of dire wolves have been preying on the populace in this area. Battle resulted in the heroes slaying four of the beasts and driving off the remaining wolf.
With that problem solved, the heroes made their way back to Nivakta's crossing and began the search for the missing noble. Unfortunately their search took a turn for the worse because while they were successful in finding the missing brother, he was found dead in a ditch after he fell and broke his neck. Taking the corpse back with them, the heroes returned to town.
Returning to town the heroes returned the body to the brother and had a few days to spare before the dawn of the new month. However on the 27th the council received a pair of special visitors by the name of Loy and Latricia Lezbin. The pair introduce themselves with a dash of flair and praise the council for the success of Ista. They came to see if the council would be interesting in funding an expedition into the forest to assist in the founding of a new settlement by the name of Tatzylford.
Some on the council had their apprehensions: Jaethal felt as though this was a power play by the Lezbins to latch onto the new up and coming power in the region but wasn't too firm on her stance. While Tristian had his apprehensions since it all seemed too convenient for these two to show up with an offer that seemed too good to be true. However the majority of the council was in favor of funding this expedition, with Beatrice LaRue quietly realizing that the funds of the republic might be in danger since the kingdom has been relying on magical means rather than proper exploratory means.
How will the founding of Tatzylford go? What is to be next on the docket for the heroes? How many pages is that contract Latricia wrote up?!
