Ebony wood

Ebony wood is harvested from the ebony tree. This tree grows in only one location in all of Ellarius. Located in the king's grove in the inner circle of Alderon these trees are carefully guarded and harvested. The tree itself is usually an almond color in its mature state with a thin flaky bark and vibrant waxy green leaves. Inside of the tree, however, is a deep black core. This is the part of the tree that is harvested and used. Because all aspects of the woods harvesting and production are done within the protective shelter of the inner city and kept a secret not much is known about how the trees are worked. What is known is their quality. Ebony wood is the highest quality wood in all of Ellarius. The amount of ebony wood distributed is heavily restricted, contributing to the exorbitant price tag, so you won't see any houses or mundane items made from ebony, but rumors say that the internal structure of the Ebony Fortress is indeed made with the material. Weapons and shields are what most people will see made from the wood, if they indeed get a chance to see or use it at all.
