Mistlands Circle

The Mistlands Circle is a group of Witches from various clans that have come together in the Mistlands. Once separate, and sometimes conflicting, the clans were unified by Mother Tox'a'ra in order to preserve the Witch culture, and their knowledge of Alchemagic. Aside from a solitary capital city built as a center of Alchemagic, they still live in small villages, but Witches of different clans now live together. The Circle does not have much political structure, but it works as one towards several common goals: the Circle protects their borders and maintains their Alchemagic material harvesting areas, but their main focus is on their Alchemagic academy, which promotes the sharing of knowledge and the experimentation required to learn new secrets.

Assets

The Mistlands Circle keeps the majority of their assets in their fortified capital city, Tox'ferhes. The city's enhanced walls and gates protect the academy from any potential assault, and protect the Mistlands and the world beyond from any potential Alchemagic mishaps at the academy. Stockpiles of Alchemagic ingredients fill warehouses and storerooms within the city walls, and cases of enhanced items are kept for trade with the outside world. Within the Mistlands, there is a Nedj ore mine that the Circle allows a Strat clan to mine in exchange for about a hundred kilos of Newsteel each year. The Witches use the Newsteel to create their most powerful enhanced items for their Rangers.

Demography and Population

The population of the Mistlands is almost entirely Witch, but the Circle does permit a pack of Canizen and a town of Trulls to inhabit the area as long as they pay taxes in the form of food or certain specific Alchemagic ingredients.

Demonym
The Witches of the Mistlands refer to each other as "brother" or "sister." Most outsiders call them "Mistland Witches" or just "Mistlanders." They have very little interest in what the outside world calls them.
Currency
When trading among themselves, the Circle typically barters rather than use a representative currency. They do, however, often include Alchemagic shards or dust in their transactions to make even trades. When outside the Mistlands, Witches of the Circle use whatever currency they have available.
