Dwarven Dungeoneers
It Belongs in a Museum!

While carving out a new district in the lower levels of their city, a dwarven construction team stumbled across the ruins of an ancient city. As the construction is too small to be of Jotun origin and there were no known celestial settlements in these mountains, all excavation has been halted until the ruins can be explored and any possible threats neutralized.

Protagonists
As dwarves are reclusive by nature, only dwarves are permitted within the city of Tumunzim. You as Player Characters will be a team of dwarven dungeoneers that have been hired to explore the newly discovered ruins. Your objective is to determine the nature of the ruins and to neutralize any possible threats within, then report your findings back to the Tumunzim Historical Coalition. Your team is assumed to have worked together for numerous such excursions, whether in the Dragon Peaks or elsewhere.
Allies
While they will not venture into dangerous territory with you, the Tumunzim Historical Coalition are willing to offer any support they can, though such assistance will largely be in the form of historical information.

When the city of Tumunzim was founded, it was carved from the abandoned remains of an ancient Jotun fortress by the same name. Looking at the first few levels of the city, one can still recognize the old Jotun architecture, from the grand entry hall that houses all of the crafting district, to entire neighborhoods carved into a single stone staircase.
The lower levels of the city were carved from the raw stone under the original fortress, and are much more appropriately sized for the dwarves living there. Every couple of decades, as the population and market demands grow, a new district will be carved out in the lower city. It was during one of these expansions that the aforementioned ruins were unearthed.
Threats
If these ruins are indeed Celestial in nature, many levels of protection can be expected. Arcane and mechanical traps are both common, as well as animated statues and other guardians.
In addition to the constructed defenses, ruins of this age are almost certainly structurally unsound. Cave-ins, flooded passages, and underground predators are always a possibility. Any sensible expedition into such ruins should come equipped to handle both natural and constructed threats.
