Dwarves

The dwarves of vecrona live almost exclusively in the hills and mountains of the Dragon Peaks on the eastern border of the Akregian Empire, though smaller clans are known to exist elsewhere. They are, as a rule, very reclusive and tend to interact with other races only in the most short-term of contexts.
Where once the dwarven clans were widespread and prosperous under the rule of the Jotun lords, the dwarves have receded to only a handful in number. The clans themselves are not a part of the akregian empire, though there have been a number of immigrations over the centuries.

Dwarven Clans

There are two major dwarven clans, the Goldbrand and the Stormjaw. Each of these clans encompasses many family lines, in the same vein as imperial noble families.

The Stormjaw Clan

Full Article
The Stormjaw clan are more reclusive than their Goldbrand cousins, bordering on xenophobic at times. They abstain from interacting with non-dwarven races, and only sparingly with other dwarven clans. They live exclusively in massive undergrouns complexes whose populations rival the Capitol City itself.

The Goldbrand Clan

The Goldbrands are more sociable than their Stormjaw cousins, though they still prefer to keep to themselves whenever possible. One should not assume that their willingness to do business with the nations of men means they lack their cousins' sense of superiority over the other races.

History

Prior to the Giants' War, the dwarves were a servant race under the Jotun. After the Jotun were defeated, the dwarves took advantage of their newfound independence by taking over the old Jotun workshops they had toiled in for centuries, establishing themselves as the new industrial power in vecrona.

The Fireblood Clan

Legends tell of a long-secluded clan of dwarves called the Fireblood. Said to be blessed by The Craftsman himself, the Fireblood clan, no one has seen or heard from the Firebloods since the Giants' War. Some legends claim that it was the Firebloods that crafted the flying galleons that proved to be key in securing the Battle of Serpent's Vale, though historical records are too incomplete to verify this.
