Blainberry Forest
Blainberry Forest was first mapped out by an explorer named Blain following the Third Goblin War of the Ælnean Kingdom. Blain made extensive notes of the plant and animal life, and discovered an edible white/tan berry that could not be found elsewhere. The berry was later named after Blain following his death in 602 AS.
Geography
The Blainberry Forest is located between the Greenburg Mountains to the west and the Faewater Plains to the east. The Lanbelt River and its adjoining tributaries cut through the forest, flowing south from its underground source in the Green Hills and turning east as it reaches the southern eaves of the forest. The western reaches of the forest extend into the foothills of the Greenburg Mountains, the further west into the hill lands the more rocky the terrain becomes.
Fauna & Flora
Notable Fauna
There is a dire wolf known as Blæchær (literally "black hair"), sometimes called Swartscinne (literally "dark skin"), so named because of its commonly attributed black fur coat. Blæchær is known for preying on people that travel deep into the forest, and survivors claim that the beast attacks during the dead of night, waiting for its prey to fall asleep before striking. The people of Riverside believe that Blæchær was once a woodsmen who became lost in the woods one night and ran afoul of a witch, who cursed the man for trespassing on her land, turning him into a large wolf.Notable Flora

The flesh and skin of the berry can also be fermented and matured into Blainberry wine.Natural Resources
