Personal history

Despite being a Phoenix Born, Refoiaushetkrom lacked the resistance to high temperatures and fire that those of his ancestry possess. As per Shoenonh Phoenix-Born custom, after being born Refoiaushetkrom was held over a fire as his parents offered up a prayer for the divine protection of the First Phoenix, but the act burned the back of the baby. His father took this as a sign that the royal family had offended the First Phoenix in some way and so named the child Refoiaushetkrom as penance. When Tehena III was born, their parents did not conduct the traditional birth ritual for Phoenix-born, nor did Tehena III carry out the ritual for her daughter.   During his childhood Refoiaushetkrom was tutored in the magical arts with the hope that he would join the esteemed ranks of the Hairoshenshamise  (lit. 'Guardians of the First'), the clergy of the First Phoenix. Although he was magically gifted, his parent's prohibited his magic tutors from teaching him fire-based spells, despite fire magic being central to the practices of the Hairoshenshamise, due to a fear that learning such magic would endanger his life. When he was finally accepted as an acolyte to the Guardians in 693, the order began teaching their magic to Refoiaushetkrom. During a practical test of mastery in conducting the Ritual of the Flame, another acolyte miscast the spell to carry out the ritual, which consumed Refoiaushetkrom in flames and resulted in his death.
