Sunlight Falls
Over three centuries ago, a team of explorers (or colonizers. depending on perspective) camped in a field. During their night of camping, a beam of light erupted from the ground and shot up into the heavens. Through day and night ever since, this beam connects the terrestrial realm to the skies above. A city has formed around the beam of light, and for the centuries that have ensued, a continuous argument has occurred: does the beam arise from this anointed group in order to reach the gods, of does the beam of light descend from the heavens to mark a holy place?
For many inhabitants of Sunlight Falls, this is no longer a question: the light simply is. Most buildings have been built specifically without windows facing the beam so that the inhabitants never have to face the question. The adherents of Pelor, the major god of the city, split between two factions: the Hand of Pelor believes that the light descends from Pelor, while the Might of Pelor believes that the light ascends from the area.
