Efreet

Efreet (singl. efreeti or efreeta) are one of the four types of genie and are native to the Elemental Plane of Fire. They are generally greedy and power hungry and their preference for deals and wishes that benefit them over the wish maker led to them sometimes being confused by devils.

Naming Traditions

Efreet traditionally have multiple names that call back to various ancestors or other valued family members. Many also have the city of their birth as their final name, such as "al-Saleem" for one that was born in the city of Saleem. However, as the City of Brass had grown to encompass more and more of efreet culture, names that denote birthplace are typically reserved only for those not from the City of Brass, which is assumed otherwise.

Major Organizations

The largest efreet settlement is the City of Brass, from where the efreet rule much of the Elemental Plane of Fire. The city is ruled by the efreet Grand Sultan, and underneath the sultan are the Yarab, noble houses, and the Tajir, merchant princes.
