Pherria Jynks is the current high priestess of
Torm in
Elturel and was, throughout the entirity of the
Damnation of Elturel, the highest ranking civilian administrator in the city.
History
In the chaos following Elturel's damnation to Hell in Eleasis of 1497, nearly all of the clergy of Torm in the city were revealed to either have been secret
cultists of Zariel or were killed by the
Hell Knights and devils that stalked the streets. Quite quickly, the city's
High Hall, which also held the Elturian church of Torm, was taken over by a group of surviving
Hellriders and members of the
Flaming Fist, led by Grand Duke
Ulder Ravengard.
Establishing a headquarters in the more easily defensible catacombs underneath the temple of Torm, Ravengard became the de facto leader of the survivors based out of High Hall, commanding the Flaming Fist and Hellriders alike, but the grand duke was politically savvy enough to not risk the appearance that a
Baldurian was taking charge of Elturel, and so he formed a small council made up of Elturian governmental officials. Pherria was on the council and technically had seniority in position as the leader of the city's church of Torm, though she was simply a clerical administrator at the temple before the crisis.
Pherria did her best to tend to the wounds of the civilians brought to High Hall, carrying with her everywhere she went the
Tome of the Creed Resolute, clinging to it like a talisman, beliving that
High Observer Thavius Kreeg would return soon and save the city, ironically unaware of Kreeg and the Creed Resolute's role in Elturel's current situation.
When the
Lost Star Detectives arrived in Elturel with the goal of freeing it, they eventually made their way to High Hall to meet with Ravengard and his council. Pherria suggested to the adventurers that they should seek out the
Helm of Torm's Sight, which could provide aid from Torm himself on how to save the city. Ravengard had attempted to retrieve the sword himself, but was unable to. The Detectives also realized that the Creed Resolute was likely the reason so many Hellriders and members of the
Order of the Companion and their family members had been turning into devils upon death. They also informed the small council about Kreeg's involvement in the city's damnation.
After the Detectives stablized the situation in Elturel, Pherria continued to heal the injured and provide guidance to those that needed it. During the
Battle of Elturel, she remained in High Hall behind the front lines to use what limited healing magic she could to staunch the most serious wounds dealth in the hall's defense.
After Elturel's salvation, Pherria was officially made the new high priestess of Elturel, however that title did not come with the prestige it once did. The salvation of Elturel was aided by not only Torm but
Lathander, and one of the Lost Star Detectives,
Alesine Zadava, became an angel in Lathander's service as a result of the group's efforts to save the city. Because of this, and the fact that the city's new
High Rider,
Alcor Miursa, worshipped Lathander, Elturel's populace began shifting their devotion, not forgetting Torm, just not favoring him as much.
