Sliver of Bane

A Sliver of Bane is the name given to semi-sentient pieces of the god Bane's soul. This ability is not unique, and most gods are able to manifest parts of themselves independent of their main form or body.
Like most Slivers, a Sliver of Bane is an extraordinarily small fraction of a its host god's soul, but its presence comes with undeniable power. For instance, the mere presence of the Sliver of Bane forces those of weak or uncertain will to supplicate. However, the Sliver is unable to obtain its full power without a mortal host body, something it can only be bound to as the result of a great and powerful magical ritual.
The most prominent Sliver of Bane is the one manifested during the Attack on the Neveren Trade Fleet at the end of 1496, which was summoned with the intention of possessing a kraken raised by the aboleth S'gothgah. However, the Sliver was instead defeated by the Heroes of Saltmarsh and trapped inside of the God Trap before being offered to the warlock patron of Micah Pierce.
