The Blackstaff
The Current Blackstaff of Waterdeep, resident in Blackstaff Tower, Vajra took over from her mentor and lover Samark Dhanzscul, who was killed in 1479. She is the youngest person to hold the position. Her apparent youth, and the caliber of great wizards who help the role before her such as Khelben Arunsun, have turned many opinions against her. Only Laeral Silverhand can strip her of the title, and although the two don't often see eye to eye, there is mutual respect.
The Blackstaff is the High Wizard of Waterdeep, responsible for the use of magic in defence of the city, and training mages in Blackstaff Academy. She also takes charge of Force Grey, a collection of uniquely skilled adventurers who act as a special forces unit on behalf of Waterdeep.
