Biho
The Biho, also called the Arc of Light, is the arch that provides the light and warmth Gyerim needs to survive. At the beginning of the day, a traces of light seem to start to flow along the Biho's path from the East and work their way across the sky as the amount of light was getting thicker and thicker. By midday, the light has reached the western edge of the horizon and the brightest amount. The light starts to recede from the East to West as the afternoon and evening passes until the last traces of it pass below the horizon at the end of the day. The volume of the light passing along the Biho correlates with the season, being at it's maximum in summer and least in winter.
On a cultural level, the Biho is considered by some to be a belt of fire that jumps across the sky. The lights at the leading and trailing edge of the phenomenon are sparks that sometimes threaten to fall down to Gyerim. Others believe that the lights of Biho are a river of spirits, giving life and light to the world. As such, the dawn and dusk are the best time to commune with them when the leading and trailing spirits that have the closest connection to the living world are closest.
Purpose / Function
Lighting and warming the world.
History
The Biho, for understandable reasons, has always been there according to the histories and only occasional variation in its passage seems to occur. The occasional disruptions take the form of days where the Biho is unusually small or a flare seems to streak across the sky in what should have been night time. When these unusual phenomenon occur, the sky around the Biho seems to trace with curtains of colored light that last for several hours after the irregular light levels pass.
