The Tanit System League
Formed in the aftermath of the First System War, the Tanit System League was heavily based on the United Stellar Nations model. As an organizaiton, it oversees the relationships and agreements between the various sovereign nations of the Tanit System to facilitate peace, fair trade, and assistance during emergencies. Following that mandate, everything went fine until the Second System War. At the start of the war, an O'Neill Cylinder was purposely attacked with anti-ship weapons, and suffered 80% casualties. After that atrocity, the TSL suspended the voting rights of the nation behind the act, and amended its constitution and articles to include war in the event of system defence, and peacemaking and keeping operations during in system conflicts. Horrified by the casualties, the TSL's remaining membership assembled an adhoc force and were able to end the conflict within six months.
The TSL has since taken a greater role in the system, reopening the HSTG Station and establishing an anti-pirate force to patrol the asteroid belts and moons of Utica and Alalia. Things aren't all good though, as several nations continue to chafe under TSL law, and rumours that the TSL hopes to become a system government one day have been seeming more real in recent decades.
Structure
The TSL is a unicameral organization with a number of committees and sub-committees that provide the main body with detailed information about specific issues. The idea of a high council was discarded owing to historical precedence for abuse. A Chief Representative is elected bi-annually by the representatives, and acts as both the leader and public face of the TSL. In addition to its political body, the TSL maintains an anti-piracy paramilitary force, and is able to call on member nations to contribute military or paramilitary forces as needed for peacemaking or keeping operations.
Culture
Culturally, the TSL is a generally positive organization with a deep commitment to diversity and sophonts rights. This doesn't make them pushovers however, but that hasn't stopped various nations from trying to bully them because they believe the narrative as opposed to the reality. The other notable aspect of their culture is their dedication to specialization and education. Many nations will send promising diplomats and government figures there for two to four years as aids or assistants to learn from the experience.
Public Agenda
Publicly, the TSL portrays itself as the glue that keeps the peace in the system, but that remains hands off direct government influence as much as possible. they are the arbiters of peace, conflicts, trade, and agreements. They're the highest criminal court for system level crimes and crimes against sophont kind. All of this is more or less accurate, but only really scratches the surface of the organization.
Assets
The TSL has offices in every capital, sub-capital, O'Neill Cylinder, and space station or belter depot with more than 3000 people there permanently. They control the entirety of the old HSGT assets in the system, and maintain their headquarters on Barcino. The TSL also has a modest fleet of light to medium classed spacecraft comprising two anti-pirate fleets, and maintain a garrison of ~3500 red helmets to provide onsite security and be a quick reaction force.
