Intercolonial University Consortium
Established in 2515 by a group of educational institutions from more than a dozen Independent worlds and Multi-World Entities, the first IUC campus was built on Aynelram five years later.
The Consortium was intended to share scientific information and discoveries and facilitate the exchange of knowledge among the worlds of the Diaspora. Since its founding, five more campuses have been established, on Berehyn, Jian Lu, Al-Sulayni, Montunao, and Na'hashanabi.
The first major program of the ICU was the Specimens Depot initiative. Three facilities were designated for the collection and storage of voluntary donations of geological, archaeological, and other artifacts collected by expeditionary teams and scientists on Diaspora worlds. The central locations provide opportunities to examine, identify, classify, and cross-reference material of all kinds, and facilitate research among member institutions of the ICU.
The Consortium's Life Bank program, initiated in 2592, provides similar facilities for donations of biologial specimens and material. The first Life Bank facility, constructed under the auspiced of Sundarasha on a lunar facility at Carn-devis 2314f1-9.14, used cryo-stasis and vacuum storage units, but a later facility constructed at Nouveau Picard in 2675 piloted the use of life-range stasis field technology.
