Joint Adventurers Company

A type of company legalized under the Second Interstellar Colonial Axis Conference as a short-term shared-risk consortium allowing private companies and individual investors to subsidize colonial scouting expeditions in return for occupancy and/or profit concessions. Became obsolete with the Treaty of Caartasilla.
Such a company had to have the sponsorship of at least one legally-constituted existing Colony or System, and could be jointly sponsored by multiple polities, especially when constituted for purposes that included mapping and exploration as well as colonial scouting.
