Drowned Lands
As the sea levels rose and global trade halted, the Netherlands started losing their fight against the water. While they did manage to enforce many inland dykes before the country fell apart, the sea dykes eventually were all lost against the increasing storms and hurricanes. Since then, all of the northern and western provinces have been lost to the sea, forming the Drowned Lands.
Nowadays, the Drowned Lands are massive mudflats that are covered with seawater during high tide. During low tide, parts will fall dry, mostly the original and new coastlines. Collectors will often travel to and from Wastes during this time. Any remaining settlements near the Drowned Lands will either maintain dykes or be built on Terps, to prevent being flooded by storm surges.
