Fairy

Fairies are one of the majorities in the system.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Fairies have insect-like wings and a lighter bone structure than most other races, that allow them to fly shorter distances. The wings are very tough, and can be rolled up or folded without taking damage. They can tear, but with the right treatment it is possible to mend them. The wings are transparent, but has a sheen to them of the same colour(s) as the individual's eyes and colour strands in their hair.

Biological Traits

Hair

White or blond are the most common. Red and brown are less common, and always on the lighter side. Black is extremely rare. Everyone has strands of one or two metallic colour(s) in their hair, and these can be any colours and are not genetically inherited.

Eyes

They have round pupils and normal size iris. The eyes generally have the same colour as one of the colours of the hair, possibly a shade darker/lighter.

Ears

The ears have small and delicate points that go straight up.

Common magic abilities

  • Physical: speed
  • Linguistics: mathematics
  • Mental: telekinesis
  • Molecular: teleportation

Civilization and Culture

Beauty Ideals

It is ideal to dress in ways that match the colour(s) of hair, eyes and wings.   Good flight capability is often seen as a desirable trait.

Gender Ideals

Fairies are rather strict on whether you are male or female - that is to say, what genitalia you have - but have very few social gender roles. Each individual is free to express themselves and their gender in whatever way they please.

Average Technological Level

Fairies are the most military advanced race.

Common Etiquette Rules

Raising or spreading wings during a conversation is commonly done when an individual wants to establish dominance or authority, and is usually viewed as a rather aggressive gesture. Rattling wings is done as a threat or warning.

Common Dress Code

A traditional fairy folk dress is simple and practical to allow unhindered movement. Colours are often muted as to enhance the colour(s) of wings, eyes and hair. All tops and shirts have holes in the back for the wings.

History

Fairies have a long history of wars, big and small, and have always been viewed as a somewhat hostile race. They were the first race to establish interplanetary contact, and were the first race to start colonizing on other planets.   They are a rich race and although poverty is fairly low, the gap between upper and lower class is rather large.   Most of the fairies' nations have democratically chosen leaders, but there are a handful of dictatorships and monarchies as well. Many nations are still fairly military.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Fairies were colonizers for a long time, and were not the most popular. The overall political relations have improved greatly since.
