Basic Information

Anatomy

Shivas have four arms, primary and secondary. The secondary pair sits a little behind and below the primary pair.

Biological Traits

Hair

Black or very dark brown. Usually straight, but can sometimes be slightly wavy.

Eyes

Black or dark brown, normal size iris and round pupil. They have a third eye on their forehead. This eye is always red, with slitted pupil and normal size iris.

Ears

Very long and pointy.

Magic

Shivas differ from all other races in that everyone has a magic ability. The ability is activated when they open their third eye, and is active as long as the eye remains open. However, they are limited to only two types of magic: Mental and Physical.

The third eye sits in the middle of the forehead, above the eyebrows.

Origins: fourth planet, Arpa.
Commonly found on: Palir, Arpa and Emandur.
Uncommonly found on: Elu.

Beauty Ideals

Shiva tend to keep their hair long, and are known for making very intricate hairstyles.

Gender Ideals

A shiva's role in society is based more on their magical ability, than what gender they are.

Average Technological Level

Shiva had very advanced forms of script fairly early.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Long before contact with other planets, shiva (and Dragon) had developed something of a uniformed language, written and spoken all over the planet. Local languages and dialects were spoken within tribes and/or regions, and while dialects varied wildly from different places, all tribes could communicate using the uniformed language to make themselves understood.

Common Dress Code

A traditional shiva folk dress has a lot of bright colours, bold patterns and many layers of thin fabrics. It is usually rather loose-fitting and men and women tend to dress very similar.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Shiva and Dragon cultures have always been very tightly linked, and the two races have always coexisted.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Many of their traditions revolve around nature and the changing of seasons.

Common Taboos

It is considered a grave violation of personal space for a shiva with the magic ability of telepathy to enter someone else's mind without asking for concent.

History

Shiva have long lived in semi-nomadic tribes. They would have a settlement where they would farm and keep livestock, but traveled during certain times of the year before returning back to their settlement. They are a peaceful people and have never really had any animosity between their own tribes, or with Dragon, and have been known to step in as unbiased third party in conflicts between dragon tribes.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Shiva and Dragon have kept themselves fairly isolated from the rest of the system for a long time. Large parts of the planet are still off limits to outside people, and few shiva have actually emigrated off the planet. Other humanoid races have started settling on Arpa, but they are still minorities compared to dragons and shiva.
