We might still win the war with Londe. They have a numerical advantage, to be certain, but they always have. We've always been better trained and better armed, and that's carried the day more often than not. But say we win. What then?
We fight there, and we'll die here. Corell is going to take the whole damn place by the time he's through. He took the coast practically unopposed - no one could stand up to the ships, and he can get them here if he wants to. We cannot win a war against him, not with the losses we've already sustained.
So damn your honor, we're letting that daughter of his come, and we're taking her hostage. He may be able to win a war against us, but not before I can secure her as my bride, I think. Maybe it won't matter. Maybe he's the kind of man who will simply come and kill us all, regardless of the danger to her. But it's all we've got left. All that stands between Bandar Philia and Corellum. And may the Gods have mercy on our souls.
