Omni Consumer Products (OCP)
Armor, Construction, Medicine, Security, & Weapons market sector
Omni Consumer Products (OCP) is involved in nearly every sector of the economy, but has developed a strong niche in private prisons, private investigation, and private security. As their name suggests, OCP deals in a wide variety of consumer products including clothing, food, transportation, and over the counter medicines. The recent shift in focus in corporate policy, while it has been profitable, has allowed for competitors like Buy N Large and Vault-Tec to eat into OCP’s market share amongst common goods.
OCP’s private security was initially poorly received by the general public owing to the fact that the security officers employed were drawn exclusively from the pool of inmates in OCP prisons. The idea of giving hardened criminals weapons & armor and tasking them with preventing crime did not sit well. As the concept became more familiar, the safeguards in place became better understood as well. OCP implants specially ordered augments from the Tyrell Corporation that records the inmate’s activities and detonates if the inmate attempts to remove the device or fails to return to their cell block following their duty shift. Similarly, their equipment is designed to destroy itself if the inmate dies or if they are separated from their equipment.
The standard OCP security and police officer wears a breather mask, as well as a polished stainless-steel finish +5 Flak Jacket over a black reflec suit. They wield a shotgun with an attached visual bug, autopistol with an attached visual bug, 3 stun grenades, an aerosol grenade, and a stunstick. Both firearms have down sight visual bugs, and the flak armor has a both a audio only and visual only bug mounted on the chest and back. The implant combines a TL 13 (computer/1 Security/1 +10) radio transceiver and a frag grenade embedded in the chest.
Inmates serving life sentences are often equipped with better gear including a breather mask, +13 combat armor, Gauss Rifles or RAM Grenade Launcher (18 Stun Grenades), a Gauss pistol, a gravity belt, 3 stun grenades, an aerosol grenade, a shield, and a stunstick. The extra expense is justified by the executives since the inmate can benefit from years of training and will never need to be released.
Outside of these services, OCP manufactures and sells vehicles, turrets, and capitol ship weapons. They also provide construction services. Though their brutalist architectural style is inexpensive, it is drab and utilitarian.
The current CEO of OCP is Dan O'Herlihy, however he has taken a backseat to Senior Vice President Dick Jones and Jr. Executive Robert Morton. These two executives are known to be feuding on how to expand the security program. Dick Jones advocates for an intelligent drone force whereas Robert Morton is pursuing a cybernetically enhanced human force. For now, Robert Morton has the greater portion of sway over the company’s resources and efforts due to some fatal accidents related to the drone program.
