Weyland-Yutani Construction, food, Mining, & Transportation market sector Weyland-Yutani Is one of the two megacorporations that dominate the colonization market. The other, Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC), has signed a non-compete agreement with Weyland-Yutani. As such many worlds are supported by one or the other. In many more cases the two mega corporations will collaborate or subcontract the other depending on the needs of a given world. Weyland-Yutani specializes luxury construction, terraforming, mining in toxic atmospheres, and charting new jump lanes. Apart from the charting of new jump lanes, Weyland-Yutani is largely a terrestrial based company. They do run internal logistics support that is periodically sublet to the travel and transportation needs of citizens, governments, and third estate mercantilists. A professional bond has been formed between Weyland-Yutani and UAC. This relationship is so strong between the two entities that it has been long theorized they will commit to a merger. As the centuries of coequal cooperation between the companies stood, the rumor gave way to the joke that it would cost TrCr100 just to change the letterhead to ‘Weyland-Yutani: Union Aerospace Corporation’ in the combined offices across the half a million worlds they manage. Weyland-Yutani has a steady need for contractors on the edges of their territory, as the worlds they specialize in colonizing are very much alive. This has led to numerous instances of hostile native animals imposing unexpected expense and delays. Hunters and poachers found it is possible to double monetize their efforts by pacifying the local fauna, and then transporting live specimens back to InGen resorts to expand their attractions, menu, or both. Weyland-Yutani’s current CEO is the original founding member of the Weyland family Karl Bishop Weyland. He has survived as long as he has by spending 49 years at a time in suspended animation. He emerges to conduct a yearlong corporate retreat and board meeting. During this time, he is appraised of the current state of affairs for the corporation and known universe as a whole, and he then drafts corporate philosophy and action plans for the next 49 years. He then grants control to Senior and Junior executives before returning to suspended animation. His brilliant guidance has seen Weyland-Yutani through disasters that have toppled countless other competitors. He is renowned for his ability to draft contingency plans in exhaustive detail, and the company has never had to go without his expert leadership. Investors still confidently follow the company while he is alive, although he is truly ancient, he is only 63 relativistically speaking. It is always an exciting time for the known universe when he is awakened. Weyland-Yutani has always forged ahead with bold and confident action each time in the past. Karl Bishop Weyland is due to be revived in 3 years’ time, meaning the shape of the known universe will be dramatically different in just 4 short years. Despite this, there is a persistent rumor that Weyland-Yutani has begun a collaboration in secret with Tyrell Corporation. This would be unusual if true, as the company rarely makes decisions without explicit direction or contingency plans of Karl Bishop Weyland.
