Armored Bristlespine
A demonic beast that lives in the grasslands of the Demon Realm
Basic Information
Anatomy
A quadrupedal mammal with gray and white striped fur. It has a mane of quilled spikes down the center of its body, and armored scale-like plates on either side of its mane. They have furry tails with more bristles interwoven with their fur.
Biological Traits
Female bristlespines tend to be a foot or so larger than males, and without spines in their tails. Males tend to have additional armor plates on their stomaches.
Genetics and Reproduction
Bristlespines reproduce sexually, with a gestation of roughly six months. They tend to have litters of 3-4 children.
Growth Rate & Stages
Brsitlespines reach maturity at around ten years of age.

Bristlespines dig out dens in the grasslands, establishing loose teritories.

Bristlespines are primarily carnivores, but can consume plants when other prey is scarce.
Biological Cycle
Female bristlespines go into heat once every five or so years, which is the only time they are able to mate.

Social Structure
Bristlespines tend to live in small groups, with one female taking 3-4 males as mates. They raise their cubs communally.
Upon reaching maturity children tend to leave home to establish their own territory - however, this usually ends up overlapping with their parents and they may still cooperate to take down larger prey.
Domestication
Beast hunters often keep domesticated bristlespines for help during their hunts - the domesticated variant tends to be a bit bigger and less aggressive than its wild counterpart. It also lacks quills, instead having a long fur mane between its armor plating.
