Divine Symbols & Sigils
Walls
Being the goddess of sieges, walls are naturally her symbol - usually represented by an unbroken circle. Her temples are built more like fortresses than places of worship - though this could be said of most demon deities’ temples. Iescula’s, however, for outpace others in the strength of their walls - and in their food stores. The inner courtyards of her temples are lush with domesticated fruit, vegetable, and herb plants.Tenets of Faith
“Strength is found in patience and preparation.”Iescula is a goddess of defensive measures and careful planning - one wins a siege by preparing for one, after all. Devotees of Iescula espouse the wisdom of strong walls and abundant stores, and in making oneself immovable in the face of any enemy.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Iescula is the daughter of Maenscul and Sciekles, the deities of kings and war respectively. She was born after Sciekles lost a fight to Maenscul, and swore her loyalty to Maenscul out of respect. Maenscul accepted her into their court, and the pair had a tryst soon after. This led to the birth of their first daughter, Iescula.
Iescula studied at her parents’ side, Maenscul teaching her the ways of leadership and Sciekles the art of warcraft. She soon found her domain in siegecraft - for what power has a king that cannot defend what is theirs?
When she set off on her own, Iescula discovered the way to tame and utilize the wild and vicious flora of the Demon Realm, spreading this knowledge to the kings she felt worthy of it. This led to the now common use of defensive gardens in demon castles and forts, and led to her secondary domain of plants.
Iescula values independence, and sees a strong defense as the best way to maintain it.
