Laughing Bird
A tall flower found in the Demon Realm.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A tall stalked flower with wide, broad leaves that grows in bunches of 7-12 flowers.
Genetics and Reproduction
Laughing Birds reproduce via seed propogation.
Ecology and Habitats
Laughing Birds originate in rich volcanic soil, largely on the slopes of Gavonar, but they can be found in the wild all across the southeastern region of the Demon Realm.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Laughing Birds are, like most demon plants, carnivorous - teeth-like spines filling the mouth-like portion of their petals. True birds, small mammals, and insects make up the bulk of their diet.
Behaviour
Laughing Birds use their sound banks to draw prey near - or to drive their predators away. If a larger animal passes by, the flowers will attempt to tear it apart using all the flowers found in a single base plant - though for most of its prey, one or two mouths is sufficient. As all the flowers in a single bunch are connected, they do not compete with eath other, but owrk in tandem.
Additional Information
Domestication
Many castle gardens in the southeastern region feature domesticated Laughing Birds, all grown from seed to adult plant. Over time, they became less aggressive than their wild cousins. Maredly, they tend to use language and people sounds more than wild varieties, which makes sense as they have better access to these vocal patterns.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Laughing Birds are primarily used as a defensive plant in castle gardens, but also have a variety of medicinal uses. Primarily, the flower petals can be steeped into a medicinal tea which can aid in various upper respiratory issues.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Wild Laughing Birds can be found mostly in the southeastern portion of the Demon Realm, near the great volcano Gavonar.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Laughing Birds are able to reproduce sounds they've heard - gaining their name from replicating demon speech patterns.
Lifespan
200-300 years
Average Height
7-8ft
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Like true birds, Laughing Birds are brightly colored.
Geographic Distribution
Okay, that's a clever plant, and a little scary!
