Kerevin
As a young yerendi boy, Kerevin was a natural explorer whose frequent journeys into the wilderness around Yerend was a source of much consternation from his parents. As he grew older, his talents were recognized and he was appointed as an explorer and spent much of his time mapping out the cliffs that marked the southern border of Yerend. This was his quite peaceful vocation for many years. But when the Imperium annexed Yerend, he suddenly found a new use for his knowledge. Through his knowledge of the land he was able to guide many refugees fleeing south, enabling them to find the best places to descend the otherwise quite treacherous cliffs. The first few groups he led personally, while for other later groups he left markers that helped them know which paths down were safe and which were not.
Once they had descended safely, he rejoined them and co-ordinated their journey in search of a new home. He trained up some of the refugees as scouts and co-ordinated their activities as they moved across the unfamiliar landscape. The refugee caravan travelled for several weeks, foraging what they could, before they came across an unusual numenera installation that pumped water up the cliff face. Kerevin recognized that this could be harnessed to build a new settlement, one located in a very high and defensible location - the settlement itself would be carved into the cliffside under a large overhang, with the Gorven Plateau being irrigated and developed to provide a food source that was immune to siege.
