The Journal of Cell Biology pull a paper written by Betty Ross, 'Myostatins and Glial Celullar Mutation Stabilisation', before publication, after they are contacted by the U.S. Army, due to the paper being partially based on research Ross did while part of the Bio-Tech Force Enhancement Project.
When Betty attempts to appeal the decision, she is contacted by Thunderbolt Ross, who threatened to prosecute her under the Espionage Act if she did not withdraw her appeal.
