IV - Helmdain, Father of the Forge

The god of craftsmen and earth has a strong following among the dwarves and often appears as a dwarf of truly mammoth proportions carved of granite. A peerless craftsman even among the gods, he is slow and methodical in his approach to all things.
The god of craftsmen cannot hear the prayers of his followers over the sound of his own hammer ringing out as he toils ceaselessly. Instead, his followers show their devotion through deed with each time an iron is struck while its hot or a chisel chip away at stone to give it shape seen as a sign of worship.   He believes in rewarding hard work and dedication to their craft, rewarding craftsmen who exhibit such qualities. Those who have earned his favor may find themselves with renewed vigor as they toil and their works exceeding their expectations. Conversely, those that take a more lackadaisical approach, cutting corners for the sake of expediency earn his ire. Tools breaking, workshop accidents, and works of shoddy quality all are signs of the god’s displeasure.   He is also the god of the earth and all the secrets and treasures that lay buried beneath it. Miners often make a silent prayer to him before breaking stone with those that adhere to his beliefs being rewarded for their hard work with unexpected deposits of ore and gemstones. However, those who are careless will find themselves running the risk of a mineshaft collapsing or coming across a pocket of poisonous gas.   He is said to reserve earthquakes for those that earn his wrath occasionally bringing entire cities down around them.
