As young boys, Stephindel and Gaerlaeron often wrestled in the street, house, and fields. They competed against each other as often as possible, but liked most to try pulling pranks on the other. As the boys got older, they became closer until their father's death when they swore to each other to each have at least one son with their future mate so the family name would be carried on.

Stephindel would often call Gaerlaeron an "anvil-brained human," and Gaerlaeron would retaliate with "starry-brained halfling." This name calling usually started a wrestling match between the boys.
