Nickel

Material Characteristics:

Found across Inyarel in mines, raw Nickel ore glistens and reflects any amount of light. It's metallic silver with gold tinge makes it unique among the metals that can be found. Typically found in shards about two or three inches across, Nickel can occasionally be found in large boulder-like clusters that vary from five inches to two feet in diameter.

Geology & Geography:

Nickel ore is found in mines all around Inyarel. To find this metal, miners have to go one to three miles below the surface.

Discovery:

First discovered in 100 WP, the elves were the first to use this metal and showed a select few humans how to heat and forge the metal to obtain better tools for hunting and farming.

Everyday Use:

Nickel is used to create tools for farming and weapons.

Industrial Use:

Nickel is most commonly combined with Stainless Steel when weapons and other tools are being created.

Refinement:

Although not smelted, this metal must be heated in forges to be able to use it.

Trade & Market:

Most commonly found and sold by miners that live in or near mountain ranges making this metal a staple in those same towns.

Storage:

Requires dry, cool air to maintain all properties and strength. Only brought to surface when being sold or forged into tools. When being transported, this metal must be placed in a box and covered to minimize the heat and water that can cause deterioration.
