SESSION 1
General Summary
The party took the contract from Alton Hunsley through Ignas .
Half the party investigated the bodies of the slain miners only to discover that they were killed by cave fishers. At the morgue, they met Griya , a helpful mortician who was cleaning the bodies.
The other half of the party, led by Lovak Minemantle , went to see Grok, the dwarven master of all things explosives. He gave them the dynamite, and informed them he is now, at times, even working with the empire officially on explosive devices.
They completed the contract, also discovering that the Hunsley Trading Company may have sabotaged the Majol Mining Company by sending in Cave Fisher eggs, to hatch and kill them all.
The party discovered that the largest Cave Fisher was big enough to crack stone stairs.
They decided in lieu of fighting, they would, instead, get the heck of out of doge, and blew the entrance to the mine, collapsing it in such a way as to prevent any further death.
The party then returned to "The Rusty Picaxe" inn and tavern, where they discussed all that had happened. Ignas returned and paid them each and addition 80gp, presumably for their silence in the matter of the possible corporate espionage.
The party, encouraged by Castra Felden decided not to look into it further, and instead took to a notice board in the tavern. There they found several interesting potential contracts, but decided on two - killing goats, and killing wolves.
Before the party could choose their contract however, a screen was heard from outside where Rehna, a pretty young dwarf - who may have earlier caught Lovak's eye - was found murdered. she was apparently killed on the roof and then dropped below, her throat brutally cut and her clothes rifled as though she was searched. There was no indication of any further defilement, but when the party brought the body to Griya , she said it was only the 5th in a string of murders of young women throughout Velas. All dwarven, all with dark hair, all working simple or menial jobs. Griya seemed quite disturbed, keeping fairly quiet about the murders.
The party chose not to investigate said murders, at least for now. They had more pressing matters to attend to, specifically Remi Galistan's personal vendetta against all goat-kind and the subsequent importance of killing said beasts. The 100gp offered to do so, even if offered by a madman, was just an added enticement.
They killed the goats by returning to Griya and getting some formaldehyde from her, feeding it to the goats through their water trough. The neighbor of the goat farmer, and the man who hired them, was most pleased with the result, asking for a goat carcas in exchange for over double his original offer. His purpose for this is, as yet, unknown, though he was arrested for the murder of the goats as the party chose to plant the poison under the floorboard of his front steps to implicate him... after getting paid of course.
The wolves, a contract given by 3 brothers who had the beasts terrorizing their cows, taking the herd down from 20 to 12, gave the party more of a challenge. It was a hard fight, with 6 wolves vs. only 5 young mercenaries. Icho N/A , the brave monk, even went down in the fight, though Finnbar, the trusty Satyr, was able to revive him through magic. He will take some time to recover still, and the wound on his neck may need treatment to ensure it doesn't scar.
The evening ended with the party returning to "The Rusty Pixaxe" to stay the night. The innkeeper, Nukx, offered to let them stay in the Inn for free, two rooms, due to their help with taking Rehna's body to the morgue for him, so he could continue working and not have to close the Inn. He seems extremely upset by the whole situation.
